Development of chemical oxygen self rescuer for coal mines in China

The chemical oxygen self rescuer is a respiratory protector that isolates the human respiratory organs from the atmospheric environment, uses oxygen produced by chemical oxygen agents for human breathing, and can escape in toxic gas and hypoxic environments. The chemical oxygen self-rescuer is mainly composed of oxygen generating tank, air bag, air duct, mouth gear, nose clip, back strap and waist belt in structure. The development of chemical oxygen self rescuer in China mainly has 3 generations.

The first generation products are AZG-40 and AZG-4OA chemical oxygen self rescuer. It uses sodium superoxide particles to react with H2O and CO2 to generate O2. When a reaction occurs, heat is released, and cooling can play a role in evaporating water vapor. The oxygen generator can continuously supply oxygen to people, and when the oxygen is excessive, it can be discharged through the exhaust port. Because it mainly reacts with human breathing, the rate of oxygen generation can be adjusted for a certain period of time to keep human breathing in a comfortable state. However, there are still certain problems in the process of use. The peroxide is placed in the self-rescuer and wrapped by silk cloth. The cloth is a flammable material. When a fire occurs, the self-rescuer has the 3 types of flammable materials, oxygen, and heat. This factor is prone to fire and spontaneous combustion. Because it contains a large amount of dust, once a leak occurs, it may block people's respiratory system and make the situation worse. At the same time, because oxygen is generated through reaction, once the dioxide is insufficient, it may cause the chemical oxygen self-rescuer to lose its efficacy, threatening the safety of miners.

The second generation product is AZH-40, 20 and 60 chemical oxygen self rescuer. This kind of chemical oxygen self-rescuer adopts a cyclic mode, which improves the dusty characteristics of the first generation, and adopts the form of compressed tablets to reduce the interference to breathing. At the same time, the circulatory breathing mode is adopted to reduce the heat in the hood and increase the comfort. The exhaust port has been revised, and the CO2 absorption capacity has been strengthened.

The third-generation product is a chemical oxygen self rescuer from OSR. It uses a piece of potassium superoxide oxygen generating agent, which optimizes the setting problem from the structure, and at the same time strengthens the annual effect of use. It can be used for about 4 years and reduces the production cost. The use of a reciprocating gas path device system makes breathing more smooth and avoids the risk of spontaneous combustion.
