Tripod | Rescue Equipment for Fall Protection
Automatic evacuation and emergency escape devices require minimal training experience and knowledge of the user. Some systems allow the user to control the descent themselves, or allow a colleague to control the descent for added flexibility. A single rescue system may not be suitable for all scenarios, some systems are convenient to use in one application, while others require more operational skills but can be adapted to a variety of applications.
In addition to descending, some systems also have the ability to lift the user or casualty. This feature is often used in situations where one operator must be rescued by another operator, often referred to as a "pick-off". The rescuer descends to the victim's side, connects to the victim's system, then raises the victim slightly to disconnect the victim from the fall protection system, and finally descends to a lower height with the victim to complete the rescue.
